Insurance Claim Process

Thank you for allowing Con-Tech DKI the opportunity to help get your property back to pre-loss condition as soon as possible.

Our goal is to restore your peace of mind!  We understand the insurance claim process can be overwhelming and therefore have provided the videos below to give you an idea of what to expect.  Please also feel free to contact our office at (416)288-9932 to speak directly with your Project Management team regarding any questions or concerns, at any time throughout your claim.

IN CASE YOU WERE WONDERING…

  • Clean, professional uniform and/or ID badge
  • Floor protection laid down and/or boot covers worn by technicians
  • No foul language or smoking on your property
  • Approval by you is required to play music at an acceptable level while work is being performed
  • Cellular devices will be used for work calls only
  • Technicians will not use any of your tools or equipment even with your approval
  • Technicians will take 2 – 15 minute breaks and a 1/2 hour lunch throughout the day
  • Notification of any changes or delays to scheduled appointments

Dehumidifiers:

  • Reduce the humidity to be comparable with unaffected areas
  • Please do not move the drain line. This is to ensure all moisture removed from the affected area is properly drained.

Air Movers:

  • Create air movement to increase the evaporation rate
  • Please do not move the equipment. If it absolutely necessary to move the equipment, they must first be turned off and unplugged.

Injectidry System:

  • Uses suction to remove excess moisture from natural wood and must be monitored daily to ensure wood is not over-dried.

Air Scrubber:

  • Circulates air through HEPA filters to remove contaminates. A rooms air supply will be replaced fully 4 times every hour.

General Equipment Tips:

  • Please DO NOT turn off the equipment! Turning off the equipment can result in unnecessary tear out of building materials. Technicians will return to monitor the drying process and determine when the equipment can be turned off and removed. Note, the equipment records how long it has been running.
  • Contact our office right away if the equipment malfunctions as we will arrange to have a replacement delivered.
  • Kindly do not allow children to play around operating drying equipment and try to minimize entry to the affected rooms.
  • Do not open windows unless instructed by the Project Manager or crew as this may significantly slow down the drying process.
  • If you are concerned with the hydro costs associated with running our drying equipment, you may use the Energy Consumption Calculator on our website for an approximate cost.

Your signature on this form provides us the permission to begin working on your property. You will be required to sign a separate Work Authorization form for both the emergency services and the restoration stage.

Con-Tech DKI will be advised if a deductible is owed on your claim by your insurance provider. We are required to collect the deductible payment on behalf of your insurance provider, before the restoration work begins. At the completion of the restoration, your insurance provider will reduce their total payment to us by the deductible amount. Deductibles can be paid by cheque, Visa or MasterCard.

Once emergency services are complete, the Project Manager will finalize his restoration scope based on like, kind and quality materials. He may need to re-attend the loss to confirm final measurements and/or have specialty trades attend to provide us with quotes for necessary repairs. Once the final scope and estimate is complete, it will be uploaded to your insurance provider for review and approval. Approval of the estimate is required before we may continue with the restoration.

Our estimate will include materials and products of like, kind and quality to that which was damaged. You will be provided with samples and will choose finishes for flooring materials, cabinetry, paint colour, fixtures, etc., if applicable.

Your insurance provider should be notified of any changes in the scope or price of the estimate. We can provide a private estimate to you directly for any desired work in addition to or as an upgrade to the original scope.
